Big blue skies longer days and distant views. Spring is probably the most energizing season, and luckily there’s plenty to do in the Hudson Valley. Here are some of our favorite events taking place in April:
The Chancellor’s Sheep & Wool Showcase
Shearing, spinning, dyeing, knitting and weaving demonstrations. Also an exhibition of various breeds of sheep and other wool bearing animals. Check out various wool artisans and shops. Music and food too at Clermont Historic Site. Saturday, April 19 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Rain date is April 27. Admission is $8/vehicle. For more information call 518. 537. 4240 friendsofclermont.org.
Ben Taylor at Helsinki Hudson
A self-described “late bloomer” musically, folk-rock singer-songwriter Ben Taylor didn’t start singing until his early 20s. The hesitation is understandable, given the daunting example of success set by his parents, James Taylor and Carly Simon. While Ben thought of other vocations he could pursue, including wilderness guide or martial arts instructor, he was eventually drawn into the family business. Ben had a true affinity for music, and not surprisingly, a love for words. “My scholastic career was not successful,” he says. “My internal jukebox was always so much louder than my teachers.” helsinkihudson.com
