As the leaves change and you begin to feel the breeze, make your way to Mount Merino Manor. It’s an excellent time to visit Hudson, New York. We’ve compiled a list for you of some great Hudson Valley events in October.
Olana presents Frederic Edwin Church: Main Sublime
Maine Sublime is the title of Olana’s latest exhibit. It will run this season at Olana, which is Frederic Edwin Church’s home in Hudson. The cost is just $6, or $5 for seniors and students. House and gallery admission is $12, or $10 for seniors and students. The season’s exhibit runs Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 31. Special gallery tours are available on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the hour.
Columbia County Council on the Arts ArtsWalk Performing Arts Festival
The 19th annual ArtsWalk, the region’s largest arts festival celebrating the Hudson Valley’s best artists, will run through October 14. It’s an exciting series of visual and performing arts programs and events. On October 3-5, thirty of the nation’s top outdoor artists will paint the awe-inspiring views at Olana. They will be on site Thursday through Saturday. ArtsWalk Literary will feature events throughout the weekend as well, kicking off on Friday, October 4 at 7 p.m. at Spotty Dog in Hudson. The fun continues throughout the week as Hudson plays host to dance, music and literary readings. Finally, don’t miss the Performance Arts Festival at the Hudson Opera House on Sunday, October 13!
Woodstock Film Festival
This fiercely independent festival kicks off in Kingston, Rhinebeck, Rosendale, Saugerties, and Woodstock.
Saturday, October 5
2nd Annual Hudson Hop and Harvest
Hudson Hop and Harvest is a celebration of Farm to Table food. This year’s event will be held at the Peekskill Riverfront Green Park. It has gorgeous views of the Hudson River and the Hudson Valley. There’s no admission fee and no tickets. All food and beverages will be pay as you go and the music is free!
The festival of art, taste and vision for the Hudson Valley officially begins with an “Evening Under the Stars” Gala to benefit the Hudson Valley Rail Trail. The weekend is also filled with a Hudson Valley Rail Trail MoonWalk and the HVRT “Move Your Caboose Fun Run/Walk” on October 14.

Hudson River Harvest Concert Series: Polonaise
This is the 20th anniversary for the concert series in Old Chatham, New York. It starts at 3:30 p.m. You will hear the music of Chopin, Schobert, Schmelzer, Rameau, and Couperin. Tickets go on sale September 12!
