Here’s a list of art events in Hudson, NY to enjoy during your stay at Mount Merino Manor through September.
American Premiere of STOCKHOLM
STOCKHOLM is a day in the life of a couple who have, for all appearances, made it. When you peel away the surface, however, you’ll find a couple held hostage to a cycle of love and destruction. The American Premier of STOCKHOLM by Tony nominated Bryony Lavery runs from Aug. 16-Sept. 1 at Stageworks Hudson. Tickets range from $18-$29, with discounts on shows during the week.
Threads: Fiber Art
This Columbia County Council on the Arts exhibition will run through Sept. 21. It’s a showcase of works related to fiber medium. Works will include art-to-wear, quilts, wall hangings and three-dimensional pieces.
Yoga and the Luminous Body Workshop
On Saturday, Aug. 17, Ray Crist will teach a workshop at Bodhi Holistic Spa & Yoga for the very first time. The workshop will explore a Vinyasa Yoga practice. It runs from 3 to 6 p.m. and costs $30.
Dance Omi Resident’s Collaborations in the Fields at Omi
Omi’s Dance Residents will show their finished pieces, created in collaboration with each other while in residence at Omi. Dancers from all over the world come to share ideas with one another and create unique pieces in Omi’s International Residency Program. The showcase will be held Aug. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Taste of Hudson
The fifth annual Taste of Hudson celebration will have over 20 fine eateries participating. It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 7 on Warren Street.
Stageworks Fall Gala
You will be the playwright as the gala features “The Play’s the Thing!” You’ll write a one-minute play and see it performed at Stageworks on Saturday, Sept. 7. The theater will also offer a live auction, fabulous food and surprises.
Basilica Hudson is collaborating with international music organizers and connoisseurs to program BasilicaSoundScape (formerly Basilica Music Fest). It’s a unique weekend program that offers a wide range of performance and art that aims for specific connections and overlaps. This weekend of sound promises to expand beyond music into conceptual and visual arts, literatures and feasting. It is set for Sept. 13 and 14.
Watercolor Workshop at Olana
Maine artist Evelyn Dunphy will teach a watercolor workshop in Olana’s autumnal landscape from Sept. 17 to 19. Dunphy, who has painted and taught at Frederic Church’s rustic summer camp in Maine for several years, will have daily informative demonstrations and will address individual artist’s techniques at the Wagon House Education Center for Adults. Mount Merino Manor is offering special rates to workshop participants, as it is one of the original Hudson Valley estates that has been privately owned since it was built by Frederic Church’s friend and physician in the 1870s.
With so much art to see in the Hudson Valley, don’t forget to reserve your room at Mount Merino Manor. Remember to mention the Watercolor Workshop at Olana when making your reservation. The rates include a tour of Olana, a meet and greet with wine and cheese on the first evening, three nights lodging, a gourmet breakfast and lunch and workshop painting tuition. Dinner and travel expenses are not included.
