DEPARTURES Magazine has compiled a list of the ten hottest spots in the Hudson Valley. The magazine listed the best places to browse artwork, shop, wine, and dine.
We’re honored to say Mount Merino Manor was chosen as the place to stay when it comes to the Best of the Hudson Valley.
According to DEPARTURES, Mount Merino Manor is the “kind of place you will not want to leave.” It is our hope our full gourmet country breakfast, cozy parlor and wrap around front porch will have you dying to come back again.
But that’s enough about us!
Many of you recently downloaded our Hudson Getaway Guide … We seem to have quite a bit in common with DEPARTURES Magazine, as we share some of our favorites. Perhaps that’s because they truly are the Best of the Hudson Valley!
In the Hudson Getaway Guide, we mention Café Le Perche.
It’s number two on the slideshow featuring the Best of the Hudson Valley.
This boulangerie, bar, and bistro is inspired by the Le Perche region of France, and what a story it has! Allan Chapin bought the building on Warren Street in Hudson back in 2010, but he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with it until he sampled the baguette du Perche during a visit to Normandy. In that first bite, he knew he wanted to open a bakery. He even shipped over a 17-ton Munoz oven in 2011. That round brick and metal oven is wood fired and can bake 200 baguettes an hour, but it is only one part of the equation.
Daniel Lambert, owner and baker of Les Flaveurs du Perche, flew from France to Hudson with 50 pounds of flour in his suitcase and met with Don Lewis who runs Wild Hive Farm in Dutchess County. Lewis now mills the blend weekly. Be sure to try Café Le Perche, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and has a full bar that showcases French wines.
Third on the Best of the Hudson Valley slideshow is Hudson Wine Merchants.
There’s no need to worry with Wine Spectator, the folks at Hudson Wine Merchants are as helpful as their selection is wide.
They sell wine from well-known producers, as well as vintages from boutique producers. Owner Michael Albin even builds and organizes custom wine cellars.
Also in our getaway guide and on the Best of the Hudson Valley list: Olana.
Home of the premier Hudson River School painter Frederic Edwin Church, this hilltop gem overlooks the Hudson River.
Take a tour of the Persian-inspired estate and browse paintings by Church and other period artists.
You can enjoy picknicking, birding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, or just walk around the 250 acres of fields.
These are just a few spots you won’t want to miss in Hudson. To view Departure Magazine’s full article on the Best of the Hudson Valley, click here.
